17.5"overall, 11.75" clip point blade, .35" thick at ricasso stamped "ALFRED / HUNTER", unique Hunter carved ivory handle with "owl eyes"; 3.25" sculpted German silver crossguard terminating in lobed quillons. Alfred Hunter first shows up as cutler in 1830 Newark, NJ city directory, his knives are iconic with unique ivory handles and meaty blades ranging from 8" to 16". CONDITION: very good, blade retains some original luster and finishing marks, old sharpening, crisp maker mark, old crack repair to grip. PROVENANCE: Rick Mack collection.
